Sir,
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter No. 509 dated 22nd instant, and beg to thank His Excellency the Governor for the acting appointment therein bestowed on me.

I trust I may be allowed to continue to discharge the duties of Assistant Harbour Master as I feel confident I can perform them in conjunction with the others efficiently and to the satisfaction of the Head of the Department.
